The planning problem
Work is assigned before its skill requirements are understood.
A ticket can look small while hiding domain knowledge, migration risk, release complexity, testing obligations, or operational ownership. A project can look staffed while depending on skills that are thin, adjacent, or missing.
Methodical helps separate the work from the assumptions around it. It extracts the technical skills implied by the ticket, project, or team plan so managers can compare the work against demonstrated evidence before commitments harden.
Fit analysis
Direct evidence and adjacent evidence are different signals.
An engineer may have completed work that directly matches a requirement. Another may have related experience that could transfer with support. Those are both useful signals, but they should not be collapsed into the same claim.
Methodical makes engineer-ticket fit, engineer-project fit, team fit, hidden expertise, and gaps visible. The product does not automatically assign people. It gives managers the evidence they need to decide who should do the work and where support will be required.
Assignment is a management decision. Methodical supplies the evidence around that decision.
Organizational memory
The best person for the work may not be obvious from the org chart.
Relevant expertise is often hidden in old projects, maintenance work, incident follow-up, migrations, and one-off technical repairs. The person with the strongest evidence may sit outside the expected team.
Planning improves when those signals are visible early. Managers can identify stronger fits, pair adjacent experience with direct support, or recognize that a plan carries more delivery risk than the ticket description suggests.
